Albany Place

Unidentified Dover Street
Albany Place

The picture above was taken in the early 1970s, before most of the area was demolished to build the York Street Bypass.  It shows Albany Place, which connected the top of Adrian Street to the junction of Queen Street, Princes Street and Cowgate Hill.

The picture below shows the street as it looks today.  Adrian Street can just be seen in the background, but the access from Albany Place has now been blocked by a council car-park.

The picture on the right shows the junction of Princes Street and Queen Street, where once stood the historic Cause is Altered public house, demolished unnecessarily when the York Street Bypass was being constructed.
