"At the top of Adrian Street is Adrian Row, a sunny spot open to the free air that blows over the Western Heights, and here Mr. A. White has built, on the sites of some old cottages 'The Albany Flats,' being a good class of artizans' dwellings.  Facing these are the Sixty-four steps, leading up to the Drop Redoubt, from which one of the best views of Dover may be obtained." (J.B.J. 1907)

The photographs above show the "old cottages" referred to by Bavington Jones, demolished in the early 1900s to make way for a block of flats - nothing changes!
